The Spaarbank Office at Hogendorpstraat, Now and Then

The above picture is taken in the year of 2011, during my visit at Jl. Kepodang Semarang. The street is formelrly known as Hogendorpstraat during Dutch Colonial Era. Obviously, most of the old facade elements such as the gable triangle shape on top of facade, circular wall ornament shape, louvre windows with roman arches on top of it and also rich balusters at balcony railing. According to historical source, this building known as formerly Spaarbank, an finacial institution that established during Dutch Colonial Era.

And then the following picture is taken during my visit on the same site in the year of 2023, and the building currently known as CIMB Bank Office Building. There were some detail adjustements on current building facade, but still the overall impression of the facade appearance looks almost similar to the original one. It have revamp to new appearance with same building function as a Bank Office, without any major obstruction to the existing building facade.

Borsumij Warehouse, Now and Then

This is just a simple attempt to capture a picture of a spot I have visited many years ago. Especially when a few days ago passing through the old city of Semarang after exiting Tawang train station. The first picture compilation is how the building looked when I first took photo of it. And rest of the another pictures below, are the new pictures i have taken during my latest visit in Semarang City.

When passing Garuda Street, spontaneously I passed the Borsumij Warehouse building. I plan to compare it with some pictures on the same structures I have taken a few years ago and have documented in a blog post here A Borsumij Warehouse.

It's a simple endeavor and please enjoy the difference in the appearance of the building from the photo I took in 2010.

Fifteen years have elapsed then, and I'm truly grateful to have the opportunity to revisit this place again.
